Russia will keep the tax on raw-sugar imports at $140 a metric ton in January, the Customs Union Commission, which oversees the tariff, said on its website.
The duty was at the same level in October, November and this month. Under a joint customs agreement with Belarus and Kazakhstan, Russia taxes raw-sugar imports based on monthly prices in New York trading, with a one-month lag before changes take effect. The average raw-sugar price in New York was calculated at $637 a ton in November, the Customs Union Commission said today.
