Natural gas rate hike approved for Puget Sound Energy

OLYMPIA, Wash. – State regulators have approved a compromise natural gas rate increase for Puget Sound Energy.
Members of the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission on Tuesday approved a 1.8 percent hike for residential natural gas customers. PSE had asked for a 2.3 percent increase.
Under the increase, the average customer, using 68 therms, would see the monthly bill go up by about $1.88. That puts the average bill at about $84.65. The basic service charge for residential natural gas customers would remain at $10 a month.
The increase will give PSE an addition $19 million a year. Bellevue-based PSE has nearly 750,000 natural gas customers in parts of Snohomish, King, Pierce, Lewis, Thurston and Kittitas counties.
The rate increase goes into effect April 1.
