Silver futures up on firm Asian trend

Silver prices surged by Rs 714 to Rs 53,825 per kg in futures trading today, buoyed by a firming trend in Asian region.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May contract rose by Rs 714, or 1.34 per cent, to Rs 53,825 per kg, with a business volume of five lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in July shot up by Rs 699, or 1.29 per cent, to Rs 54,811 per kg, with an open interest of two lots.   

Traders said a firming trend in Asian region mainly pushed up the white metal's futures prices.

Meanwhile, silver jumped two per cent to $35.95 an ounce in Asian region.
