The spot price of the US HRC futures contract rose by a slight 0.2 percent on Aug. 10, 2012, making it the day’s biggest mover. After three days of flat prices, it closed at $641 per short ton. The US HRC futures contract 3-month price held steady at $645 per short ton.
Chinese steel prices were flat for the day. The high and low prices of iron ore 58% fines from India ranged between $130 and $135 per dry metric ton. Chinese HRC held its value last Friday, holding between $550 and $600 per metric ton. The price of Chinese coking coal remained essentially flat dropping just a few dollars per metric ton.
The cash price of steel billet showed little movement last Friday on the LME at $360 per metric ton. The 3-month price of steel billet saw little price change last Friday on the LME at $370 per metric ton.
