Pepper firms up on rising demand

Pepper_02Mumbai, Nov 23 (PTI) Black pepper prices firmed up further at the spices market here today on sustained demand from stockists and exporters amid thin supply.
Meanwhile, other spices closed little changed from its overnight levels owing to lack of demand.
Black pepper moved up by Rs 2/4 per kilo to Rs 225/243 from yesterday''s closing level of Rs 221/241.
Following are today''s closing rates in rupees, with the previous rates in brackets:
Black pepper (per kilo) 225/243 (221/241), ginger bleached (per kilo) 230 (230), ginger unbleached (per kilo) 245 (245), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 5,500 (5,500), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 5,400 (5,400), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 6,900 (6,900) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 6,250 (6,250).
