Sugar price increase is illegal

There should not be any increase in the price of sugar says the Permanent Secretary for Sugar Colonel Manasa Vaniqi.

Vaniqi says any recent increase in the price of sugar being sold in supermarket and shops will be deemed illegal.

He says there have not been any discussions or any decision made with regards to increasing the price of sugar.

FBC News understands there could be an increase in sugar prices due to the high cost of imported sugar.

Vaniqi says a decision on this will only be made if a proposal is put forward.
