Copper futures down on global cues

Copper futures prices fell by 0.43% today after speculators off-loaded their positions, driven by weak trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June shed Rs 1.85, or 0.43% to Rs 427.70 per kg, with a business volume of 2,892 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in May also eased by Rs 1.80, or 0.43% to Rs 420.10 per kg, with a turnover of 17,397 lots.

Market analysts said weak trend in copper and other base metals at the London Metal Exchange along with subdued domestic demand at spot markets mainly kept pressure on the metal prices at futures trade here.
